Once a month Brick House QW will hold a community service sew day to make Quilts of Valor. These quilts will be donated to local veterans when completed. This is a group project where participants will be working collaboratively on one or two quilts at a time while at the studio. Fabric and instructions will be provided. There is no “homework”. Just show up with your usual workshop supplies (sewing machine, thread, scissors, ….) and help sew together pre-cut blocks. This event is open to ALL! A great opportunity for beginners to observe and learn, however, you do not have to sew to be helpful! There will be many tasks at hand from ironing to sorting and folding fabric to cutting for the next quilt. The more the merrier. Come for the duration or drop in at any time. There is no fee for this event. There will be a donation jar with all proceeds going towards fabric, batting and other needs for these quilts, but a donation is not required. Bag lunch recommended. Feel free to bring a snack to share. Munchies, coffee, tea and water provided.
In addition we will be seeking patriotic fabric donations for the QOV quilts. They must be 100% cotton. No flannels, corduroy, fleece, denim or wool please. We would like to avoid floral prints if possible. Particularly seeking, blues, reds, and white or tan background fabrics in 1/4 yd or larger sizes.
